Law Enforcement Protocols
Effective date: 2026-02-15 Last updated: 2026-02-15
Dostination cooperates with law enforcement and legal process consistent with applicable law, our Terms and Conditions, and our commitment to member safety. This page describes how law enforcement, government agencies, and legal counsel should submit records requests, preservation requests, and emergency disclosure requests, and how Dostination responds.
1. Scope
This policy applies to any request from a law enforcement agency, prosecutor, regulator, or court seeking non-public information about a Dostination account, registration, transaction, communication, or event. It also applies to civil litigants seeking Dostination records via subpoena.
Requests concerning payments, refunds, chargebacks, or payment fraud investigations may be directed to our payment processor, Stripe, in parallel where those records reside with the processor rather than Dostination. Nothing on this page limits the obligations of a payment processor to respond to valid legal process directed to it.
2. Accepted Legal Process
Dostination will produce non-public user records only in response to valid legal process. Depending on the record type requested, the appropriate legal process is:
- Subpoena issued under state or federal authority, for basic subscriber information such as name, email address, account creation date, and last login timestamp.
- Court order issued under 18 U.S.C. section 2703(d) or an equivalent state statute, for non-content transactional records such as event registration history, payment method type, and communication metadata.
- Search warrant issued upon a showing of probable cause and supported by an oath or affirmation, for the contents of user communications, uploaded content, or other stored content records.
- Preservation request under 18 U.S.C. section 2703(f), to preserve records for up to ninety (90) days pending service of formal legal process.
- Emergency disclosure request where there is an imminent threat of death or serious physical injury, as described in Section 5 below.
Requests that do not fit one of the above categories, or that seek records beyond the scope of the process presented, will be declined or narrowed as required by law.
3. How to Submit a Request
All legal process must be served in writing to the address below. Requests submitted informally, by phone, or by direct message to Dostination staff will be redirected here.
- Email: yaar@dostination.com (subject line must begin with the words "Law Enforcement Request").
- Postal mail: Dostination Legal, care of the operating entity of record at the address provided upon request.
- Encrypted channel: Available on request for sensitive matters.
Please include:
- The full legal name of the requesting agency or counsel and the name of the officer, agent, or attorney of record;
- A callback phone number, direct email address, and badge or bar number where applicable;
- The specific account identifiers under investigation, including email address, phone number, event slug, transaction id, or registration id where known;
- The date range of records requested;
- The signed and dated legal process document as a searchable PDF;
- Any court-imposed non-disclosure order, delay-notice order, or gag order, and the date it expires.
Dostination will confirm receipt within one (1) business day for requests submitted during US business hours, and will provide an estimated production timeline based on the scope of the request. Complex or broad requests may require additional time.
4. What Dostination Will and Will Not Produce
Dostination will produce records within the scope of the legal process served, consistent with applicable law and our Terms and Conditions. Dostination will not produce:
- Records outside the scope of the legal process served;
- Records that are not in our possession, custody, or control (for example, records held solely by Stripe as our payment processor, or by a third-party email delivery vendor);
- Content of user communications in response to a subpoena alone, absent a search warrant or the account holder's consent;
- Records subject to attorney-client privilege, work-product protection, or another recognized privilege;
- Records located outside the United States where production would violate applicable data-protection law, absent a mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT) request or an order of a court with jurisdiction over Dostination.
Where a request is overbroad, unduly burdensome, or seeks records outside the accepted categories, Dostination may object, move to quash or narrow, or ask the requesting party to narrow the request voluntarily before production.
5. Emergency Disclosure Requests
Consistent with 18 U.S.C. section 2702(b)(8) and analogous state law, Dostination may voluntarily disclose limited user records to a law enforcement agency in good faith when we believe, on the totality of the circumstances, that an emergency involving imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to any person requires disclosure without delay.
Emergency requests must:
- Be submitted on official agency letterhead by a sworn law enforcement officer;
- Describe the nature of the emergency, the specific harm feared, and how disclosure of the records requested is expected to prevent or address that harm;
- Identify the account, registration, or transaction with sufficient specificity to allow Dostination to locate the record;
- Include a direct callback number for verification.
Dostination reserves the right to independently verify the emergency and the identity of the requesting officer before producing any record under this section, and to limit disclosure to the minimum records reasonably necessary to address the emergency.
6. User Notice
Consistent with applicable law and platform policy, Dostination reserves the right to notify a user that their records have been requested by a third party or by law enforcement, unless:
- Notice is prohibited by court order or applicable statute (for example, a section 2705(b) delayed-notice order);
- Dostination determines, in good faith, that notice would create a risk of injury to any person, of destruction or tampering with evidence, or of flight from prosecution;
- The request is an emergency disclosure request under Section 5 above and notice would defeat the emergency purpose.
Where notice is not prohibited and no articulable safety concern applies, Dostination may provide the affected user with a copy of the process served and a reasonable opportunity to seek relief in court before production.
7. Fees and Reimbursement
Where permitted by law, Dostination may seek reimbursement of the reasonable costs of locating, retrieving, reviewing, and producing records in response to legal process, including staff time and outside counsel fees for narrowing, quashing, or objecting to overbroad requests.
8. Records Retention
Dostination retains user records for the period reasonably necessary to operate the Service, comply with our legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms. Preservation requests submitted under Section 2 will extend that retention window for up to ninety (90) days pending service of formal legal process, and may be extended once for an additional ninety (90) days upon request.
9. Reporting Prohibited Conduct
If, in the course of responding to a request, Dostination becomes aware of conduct that violates our Terms of Service, our community code of conduct, or applicable law, we reserve the right to:
- Suspend or terminate the account;
- Cancel any ticket or event participation;
- Refer the matter to the appropriate authorities where required by law or where safety considerations warrant referral;
- Cooperate with an ongoing investigation consistent with this policy and applicable law.
10. Anti-Trafficking, Anti-Abuse Commitment
Dostination has zero tolerance for human trafficking, sexual exploitation, or the aiding or abetting of abuse on our platform, at our events, or in our communications. We will preserve records and cooperate fully with law enforcement investigating suspected violations of these prohibitions, subject to the process and limits described above.
See our Terms and Conditions, Section 4 (Prohibited Uses) for the full policy.
11. Contact
Law enforcement and legal counsel may direct requests and inquiries to:
- Email: yaar@dostination.com (subject line beginning with "Law Enforcement Request")
- General legal contact: yaar@dostination.com
Dostination does not maintain a twenty-four-hour law enforcement hotline. Emergency disclosure requests as defined in Section 5 will be prioritized during US business hours and best-effort thereafter.
